Heat wave alert issued for 29 Andhra Pradesh mandals

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued a warning about heat waves in 29 areas, known as mandals, across the state on Monday. Severe heat conditions are expected specifically in the Chinturu and Kunavaram mandals. The heat wave alert affects several districts, including Vizianagaram, East Godavari, Eluru, and Alluri Seetharamaraju. Srikakulam district may see heat waves in four mandals, and Parvathipuram Manyam district has seven mandals at risk. One mandal in NTR district is also included. Some light rain with thunder and lightning is forecast for North Andhra and the Rayalaseema region. APSDMA managing director R Kurmanadh shared these details in a press release. On Sunday, Nandyala district recorded the highest temperature of 39.9 degrees Celsius. Other high temperatures included 39.5 degrees in Atlur, YSR district, and 39.2 degrees in Ibrahimpatnam, NTR district. The Meteorological Department predicts thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning in isolated areas of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema. Residents are being urged to stay hydrated and avoid sun exposure during the hottest parts of the day.
