Hermon L. Wesby, an 80-year-old resident of Aurora, Illinois, died on March 4, 2025. He passed away at Northwestern Hospital in Huntley. Born on April 22, 1944, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Hermon was the son of Julius and Pearl Wesby. Hermon served in the U.S. Army and achieved the rank of E5 before his honorable discharge on June 15, 1971. He worked for 30 years at Caterpillar Tractor in Montgomery, Illinois. He was known for his friendly nature and made friends easily. Hermon loved playing pool and bowling, and he enjoyed camping and traveling around the United States on his Gold Wing motorcycle with his partner, Marilee. He also had a passion for boating on the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. Hermon was an active member of the Montgomery Memorial Post 7452 of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He proudly participated in parades and served as an honor guard for fellow veterans. He is survived by his partner Marilee, five children, nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He had one sister and two brothers, along with a sister-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings. A Celebration of Life service will take place on March 29 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Aurora. Donations may be made to the Veterans Assistance Commission of McHenry in lieu of flowers.
