High Court demands report on Dallewal's detention

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has asked the Punjab government to provide a report on the detention of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal. The court set a deadline of March 24 for the government to respond. A resident from Hoshiarpur, Gurmukh Singh, filed a petition claiming that Dallewal's detention is illegal. He argues that Dallewal was detained without proper procedures being followed. Singh stated that this detention violates Dallewal's fundamental rights as outlined in the Constitution. The petitioner is asking the court to ensure the safety of Dallewal and other leaders who are also missing. He wants the government to present Dallewal in court. Dallewal was detained after meeting with central and state ministers in Chandigarh on March 19. Initially, he was taken to Patiala and later moved to a rest house in Jalandhar.
