High Court permits criminal case against former officials
The Karnataka High Court has allowed a criminal case against retired Bengaluru Urban deputy commissioner V Shankar and two other officials. They are accused of creating fake documents related to a land parcel, allegedly costing the state significant money. The court found sufficient evidence against the trio, including claims that they misused their powers to benefit the mother of former chief secretary Arvind Jadhav. The judge noted that the land's original grantee was misrepresented in the documents. The petitioners argued that the case was filed two years late and lacked evidence showing the land was government property. However, the court determined that the actions taken by the officials were improper and facilitated the alleged fraud.
