High courts in Islamabad and Peshawar challenge PTI's planned protest on November 24
The Islamabad and Peshawar high courts have received petitions to declare the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest on November 24 illegal. The petitions cite concerns over political unrest and the potential for violence, particularly due to the involvement of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Chief Minister. PTI plans to mobilize a large number of supporters, with reports indicating the formation of a "Jihadi Squad" of 9,000 members from the PTI Youth Wing. This group will be led by provincial officials and is intended to protect participants during the protest. In response to the planned demonstration, the government is preparing to partially suspend internet and mobile services. Police are also seeking the physical remand of PTI leader Imran Khan in a separate vandalism case.
