High diabetes in Krishna, hypertension in Konaseema

A recent door-to-door survey in Andhra Pradesh has found high rates of diabetes in Krishna district and hypertension in Konaseema district. The survey, part of the Non-Communicable Disease program, screened 1.49 crore people since November 2024. The findings show that 14.73% of those screened have hypertension and 11.78% have diabetes. Additionally, the survey identified 56,000 suspected cases of oral cancer, 31,000 of cervical cancer, and 40,000 of breast cancer, with referrals for further evaluation. Medical authorities have set up Preventive Oncology Units for secondary screenings. Special outpatient services are available for suspected cancer patients, with dedicated slots on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
