Highway 49 closed Tuesday for power line repairs

Drivers in Placer and El Dorado counties will face a highway closure on Tuesday. Highway 49 will be closed for several hours due to repair work on power lines. The closure stretches from the intersection of Lincoln Way and Borland Avenue in Auburn to the El Dorado County line. Pacific Gas & Electric Co. will perform the necessary repairs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Caltrans advises drivers to avoid this route for the day. Detour signs will guide drivers to alternate roads, including Foresthill Road and Old Foresthill Road. The work is only expected to take one day.
