Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Saturday. Sukhu asked Shah to release funds for flood relief after the heavy monsoon rains in 2023. The state has requested financial aid based on its post-disaster needs assessment. However, Sukhu noted that they are still waiting for this support from the central government. He explained that the severe rains caused significant damage to drinking water, irrigation systems, infrastructure, roads, and bridges. Despite these challenges, Sukhu mentioned that the state has been managing the situation with its own resources. During the meeting, he also raised other issues affecting the state. Shah promised to provide as much assistance as possible.
