HMRC promotes Child Benefit for earners under £80,000
HMRC is encouraging individuals earning under £80,000 annually to claim Child Benefit, which can provide up to £1,331 per year for eligible parents and carers. This benefit supports those raising children under 16 or under 20 in approved education. Starting April 6, Child Benefit rates will increase by 1.7%. The weekly payment for the eldest child will rise from £25.60 to £26.05, while the rate for additional children will increase from £16.95 to £17.25. Parents earning £60,000 or less can claim the full benefit, while those earning over £60,000 may face a charge. HMRC advises checking eligibility, especially for those who opted out due to the charge. Claims can be backdated for up to three months.
