HMRTC plans new metro corridors in Gurugram
The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) plans to hire a consultant to create a project report for two new metro lines in Gurugram. This decision was approved during a board meeting in August last year. The request for bids was announced on March 19 and will be opened on April 18. The first proposed metro line will run 17 kilometers from the Gurugram railway station to Bhondsi. It will pass through important areas like Vatika Chowk and Rajiv Chowk. This route will connect with the planned Delhi-Gurugram-Alwar Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) at Rajiv Chowk. The second line will be 13 kilometers long, linking Sector 5 to Golf Course Extension Road. It will include stops at major locations such as the Millennium City Centre and Signature Tower. This route will primarily follow Sheetla Mata Road. These new metro lines aim to serve some of the most populated areas of Gurugram, connecting many residents to key business districts. Once completed, they will integrate with the existing Gurugram metro and the RRTS along the national highway, enhancing urban transport in the region.
