Holi celebrations concluded in Braj with Huranga event
Holi celebrations in Braj, particularly at Mathura's Dauji temple, continued on Saturday, marking the end of the festival. This event, known as Huranga, featured traditional songs, vibrant colors, and playful interactions among participants. Unlike the rest of India, which concluded Holi a day earlier, Braj's festivities included unique customs, such as women playfully tearing men's clothes. A large crowd gathered to witness these age-old traditions associated with Baldev, the elder brother of Lord Krishna. In addition to the temple celebrations, Mathura's Phalen village observed a traditional ritual where a priest walked barefoot on burning ashes. This event symbolizes the mythological figure Prahlad, who survived a fire. Holi celebrations in Braj last for 40 days, starting from Basant Panchami.
