Holiday road traffic deaths rise to eight in Philippines, says DOH
The Department of Health (DOH) reported that the death toll from holiday road traffic incidents has risen to eight, with one additional fatality confirmed. Five of the deaths involved motorcycle accidents. From December 22, 2024, to January 6, 2025, there were 703 reported road traffic incidents, with 47 new cases on Monday. Most individuals involved were not wearing safety gear, and 127 cases involved intoxication. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) revoked 984 driver’s licenses last year for various offenses, including 736 for violations related to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
