Homan threatens New York with more ICE agents
Tom Homan, a Trump administration official, threatened to increase the number of federal immigration agents in New York if Governor Kathy Hochul does not change the state's sanctuary status. He criticized sanctuary laws, claiming they hinder public safety. Homan praised Mayor Eric Adams as a partner in immigration enforcement and mentioned plans to meet with him. Adams has not yet issued an order allowing federal agents into Rikers Island, despite previous promises. In response, Hochul's spokesperson emphasized her support for secure borders while opposing harsh immigration policies. Homan also commented on the arrest of a Columbia University student, stating that free speech has limits.
