Honda EV owners can use Tesla Superchargers starting June

Honda announced that owners of its electric vehicles (EVs) will soon be able to use Tesla's Supercharger network. This access will begin in June 2025 but requires buyers to purchase a special adapter. Honda's Prologue and Acura's ZDX models will be the first to connect to the more than 20,000 Tesla Supercharger stations across North America. These vehicles use the CCS1 charging connector, which means owners need an additional adapter to plug into Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) chargers. Unlike some other automakers, Honda will not provide the required adapter for free. Owners must buy it from a dealership, and the exact price will be announced closer to the June release. For reference, similar adapters from Ford now cost around $200. It's important to note that these adapters will only work at Tesla's DC Supercharger stations and will not be suitable for home charging setups. Some Tesla stations feature "Magic Dock" adapters that can accommodate CCS connectors, eliminating the need for separate adapters. However, these stations remain limited, so users should check their availability on platforms like PlugShare. In addition to this development, Honda plans to transition to NACS chargers for its EVs, beginning with the Honda 0 prototypes presented at CES 2025. The Acura RSX 2026 is expected to be the first production model featuring this new charging technology.
