Honda, Toyota, and Volvo top used car reliability rankings
Buying a used car can be tricky. Many people worry about their new car breaking down or having hidden issues like being stolen or having unpaid debts. To help buyers, companies like CarVertical offer vehicle history services. They conduct checks to reveal which car brands are generally more reliable. Their analysis of nearly 100,000 reports last year found that Honda, Toyota, and Volvo have the cleanest records, each having around 70% reliability. Other brands with good ratings include Mini, Porsche, and Peugeot, while several German brands ranked much lower. Audi scored only 52%, and brands like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Volkswagen also had lower reliability ratings. Matas Buzelis from CarVertical cautioned that some sellers might hide problems to sell their cars for more money. He stressed the importance of checking a car's history before buying. He noted that buyers should test drive the car and have it inspected by a professional. The excitement of a new car can quickly turn to disappointment if unexpected problems arise. Buyers are encouraged to do their homework to avoid costly repairs down the road.
