Hong Kong customs seizes HK$33 million cocaine
Hong Kong customs officers have arrested a 37-year-old technician for drug trafficking. They found 39 kilograms of suspected cocaine hidden in a commercial building in Tsim Sha Tsui, a busy shopping area. The drugs, valued at HK$33 million (about US$4.2 million), were discovered inside two suitcases and a large nylon bag. The cocaine was in the form of white powder and pressed blocks. Acting Assistant Superintendent Vincent Yeung said the location was challenging for enforcement due to its heavy foot traffic and multiple entrances. Officers believe the commercial unit was being used to store the drugs. The man remains in custody and is being held on suspicion of drug trafficking as investigations continue.
