Hong Kong firms improve healthcare in Belt and Road regions

Hong Kong is working to strengthen its medical and health industries. The city wants to become a global hub for technology and innovation. It has excellent research and development resources, a skilled workforce, and supportive government policies. In a recent policy address, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu outlined plans to transform Hong Kong into an international health and medical innovation center. Local businesses are already building partnerships around the world. They are using the city’s role in China's Belt and Road Initiative, aimed at promoting collaboration in trade, healthcare, and other fields. Two companies leading this effort are Modern Dental Group and Insilico Medicine. Modern Dental Group, established in 1986, specializes in dental prosthetics and has a global presence. In 2023, it helped 2 million patients. The company is expanding its operations by acquiring a major dental laboratory in Thailand and opening a new facility in Vietnam. This expansion allows Modern Dental Group to provide dental prosthetics at lower costs. Insilico Medicine, on the other hand, focuses on AI-driven drug discovery and healthcare solutions. Together, these firms are contributing to improved health services in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
