Hong Kong maintains HK$2 transport fare for seniors
scmp.com —
Hong Kong will maintain the HK$2 public transport fare for residents aged 60 and above, despite younger users costing taxpayers more. The welfare minister emphasized that all older residents should be treated equally. The government plans to cap the subsidy at 240 trips per month and limit discounts for rides over HK$10. However, there will be no changes to the eligibility age or reduced subsidies for younger seniors aged 60 to 64.
