Hong Kong man convicted for daughter's violent murder
A man in Hong Kong has been found guilty of murdering his three-year-old daughter by shaking her violently. The High Court jury made the decision on Thursday. They were unanimous in their verdict against Lau Kai-ping, who is 42 years old. The girl, named Leung Nga-sze, was found unresponsive in their home in Sham Shui Po on July 18, 2020. When doctors examined her, they noticed serious injuries, including bleeding inside her skull and in her eyes. There were also old bruises on her body. Despite being moved to the pediatric intensive care unit at Princess Margaret Hospital, she sadly passed away on July 29. During the trial, medical experts testified that her injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome. This condition occurs when a child is shaken violently, leading to severe brain damage and other injuries.
