Hong Kong partners with Harbin for winter sports training
Hong Kong and Harbin have signed an agreement to support sports training for future Asian Winter Games. The deal was made to help Hong Kong, which does not have snow, improve its chances of winning medals. The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) worked with the Heilongjiang Sports Federation and Harbin Sport University. They will share resources for training, facilities, and expertise. The agreement also includes opportunities for cultural exchanges and talent development. This signing comes shortly after Hong Kong sent its largest team ever to the Asian Winter Games. Athletes from Hong Kong competed in events like curling, speed skating, and ice hockey. The Games were hosted in Harbin, the capital city of Heilongjiang Province, in February. Key officials were present at the signing ceremony, including Hong Kong leader John Lee and Xu Qin, a senior Communist Party official from Heilongjiang. Edgar Yang, honorary secretary general of SF, noted Heilongjiang's success in developing Winter Olympic champions.
