Five students from S.K.H. St Michael's Primary School in Hong Kong have fallen ill after a school trip to mainland China. These students showed symptoms of acute gastroenteritis during the trip to Xian in Shaanxi province. The trip took place from last Tuesday to Friday and included 63 students and seven teachers. The first case appeared on Friday morning when a student started feeling unwell while traveling on a bus. Four other students nearby began to show similar symptoms by Sunday. Two of the affected students went to see a doctor, but none needed to be hospitalized. The Centre for Health Protection reported that the symptoms were likely caused by a norovirus infection.
