Hong Kong to see five to eight typhoons
Hong Kong is expected to face between five and eight tropical cyclones this year. The city's Observatory director, Chan Pak-wai, shared this information during a press conference about the weather outlook. The typhoon season is likely to start in June or earlier and could last into November. This is longer than usual. Chan noted that the conditions this year may extend the season, similar to last year but for different reasons. He explained that the current typhoon season is influenced by the end of the El Niño climate pattern. This shift aligns with the Observatory's earlier predictions. Overall, Hong Kong residents should prepare for a challenging typhoon season ahead.
