Hong Kong warns about issues in educational courses
Hong Kong's Consumer Council has issued a warning about educational courses after receiving 94 complaints in January and February 2025. Complaints include issues with refunds and unexpected costs associated with courses in social media marketing, life coaching, and personal finance. One complaint involved a woman who lost HK$34,800 after being denied a promised refund for a social media marketing course. She was initially told she could pay monthly and receive a "100 percent refund guarantee" if she enrolled immediately. The Consumer Council is urging the industry to address these issues promptly to protect consumers.
