Hong Kong's Super March boosts tourism and events
March has become a big month for Hong Kong, thanks to the "Super March" campaign by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB). This initiative aims to promote the city and attract visitors by showcasing major events throughout the month. The campaign kicked off with an impressive opening ceremony for the new Kai Tak Sports Park on March 1. This 28-hectare venue is built on the site of the former airport and features a 55,000-seat stadium that will host the Hong Kong Sevens. Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu believes the park, which cost HK$30 billion (about US$3.9 billion), will help Hong Kong become a destination for large events. During the first half of this year, officials expect that mega-events will draw around 840,000 visitors to the city, generating an estimated HK$3.3 billion in spending. However, Super March is not just about these events. The campaign also focuses on improving local neighborhoods and offering visitors memorable experiences. Dane Cheng, the executive director of HKTB, explains that the campaign combines publicity for events with precise marketing strategies. This approach is designed to attract a broad audience by organizing promotions based on date, festival, and event type. Overall, Super March aims to highlight the unique charm of Hong Kong while providing exciting experiences for visitors.
