House can fast-track impeachment process against Vice President Sara Duterte, says de Lima

The House of Representatives can speed up the impeachment process against Vice President Sara Duterte, according to former senator Leila de Lima. She stated that despite time constraints due to upcoming elections, the House can prioritize the complaint. House Secretary General Reginald Velasco noted that the impeachment process typically takes at least 130 days. However, de Lima emphasized that the House does not need to wait the full period and can expedite the proceedings if they choose. De Lima highlighted that the impeachment complaint includes 24 articles, with serious allegations such as misuse of funds and corruption. She suggested that the House could also pass its own resolution of impeachment with the approval of one-third of its members.
