House inquiry examines Vice President's spending on satellite offices

The House of Representatives is investigating the Office of the Vice President (OVP) for alleged misuse of funds. Nearly half of the OVP's budgets for 2023 and 2024 have been spent on satellite offices across the Philippines. An OVP official reported that over P1 billion was used in 2023 and P893 million in 2024 for these offices. The inquiry revealed a significant increase in expenses, including travel and office rentals, compared to previous budgets. Four OVP executives were cited for contempt for not attending the inquiry. Vice President Sara Duterte criticized the investigation, claiming it is an attempt to set the stage for her impeachment.
