The U.S. House passed the BIOSECURE Act with a 306-81 vote, prohibiting government contracts and grants to companies working with five Chinese biotechs: BGI Genomics, MGI Tech, Complete Genomics, WuXi AppTec, and Wuxi Biologics. The bill mandates U.S. drug companies cease business with these firms within eight years to maintain federal standing. It may be attached to larger legislation in the upcoming lame duck session.
