Housekeeper shares budget cleaning tips for UK bathrooms
This Sunday marks Spring Clean Sunday in the UK. Millions of people will spend time cleaning their homes as winter ends. Anne Simmons, a former royal housekeeper who worked at Buckingham Palace for over 12 years, shared her cleaning secrets. She knows how to keep the palace, including its 78 bathrooms, spotless. Simmons recommends three budget-friendly cleaning products perfect for getting your bathroom clean. First, she suggests using Classic Coca Cola, which costs 70p at Sainsbury’s. The drink contains phosphoric acid, which helps remove limescale stains. Pour about 500ml into the toilet bowl and sink, let it sit for an hour or overnight, then scrub and rinse. Next, she advises using Dr Oetker Bicarbonate of Soda, priced at £1.45 from Ocado. This product is good for removing stains and odors. Sprinkle about two tablespoons on the area, wait 15 minutes, scrub with a coarse sponge, and rinse. Finally, use Distilled Vinegar, available for just 35p at Tesco. The vinegar is effective for breaking down grime and mineral deposits. Pour it into the sink or toilet and let it sit for 30 minutes to an hour. Then, rinse with cold water for a clean surface. These simple tips can help anyone achieve a sparkling bathroom, just like those in Buckingham Palace.
