Huang Yulong's UPWARD exhibition opens at Hong Kong harbourfront

Contemporary Chinese sculptor Huang Yulong has launched his outdoor exhibition called UPWARD at the Hong Kong Observation Wheel and AIA Vitality Park. This exhibition features 20 life-size hooded figures looking upwards toward the Hong Kong skyline. The installation is meant to represent optimism and a spirit of moving forward. Yulong is known for his art that draws inspiration from hip-hop and street culture. With UPWARD, he aims to encourage community engagement and positivity, especially during a busy cultural month in Hong Kong. The exhibition has already become a significant symbol of hope in the city. In addition to UPWARD, one of Yulong's notable works, titled “Be My Side L,” will be displayed permanently at the site. He will also present additional sculptures at Art Basel Hong Kong, continuing his collaboration with the Ora-Ora gallery after a successful debut in 2024. The UPWARD exhibition will take place from March 12 to 20 and then again from March 24 to 31. Visitors can enjoy public viewing hours, with a special Art Week event scheduled for March 25.
