Hubballi residents celebrate Holi despite high temperatures
Hubballi residents celebrated Holi with joy and excitement. Families started their festivities early on Tuesday to avoid the hot afternoon sun. Many people used organic colours, water pistols, and festive decorations. Children enjoyed their time with water balloons and colour packets, running around their neighborhoods. Housing societies and local organizations held special gatherings for the event, focusing on safety. Many residents chose eco-friendly colours made from flowers and herbs. Police were present in various areas to ensure peace and order, while healthcare facilities stayed prepared for any emergencies. Small get-togethers took place on rooftops and in gardens, where families shared traditional snacks and sweets with neighbors. The celebrations typically wrapped up by early afternoon as temperatures climbed. After the festivities, families moved inside for lunch with relatives and friends, keeping the festive spirit alive. Throughout Hubballi, more than 250 Kamanna idols were set up in localities. People led processions in their areas before gathering at popular spots like Maratha Galli and Koppikar Road. Women participated energetically in activities like rain dances. Students in pre-university courses finished their exams and joined the celebrations afterward. While HDBRTS bus services were stopped, other local buses continued to run. Most restaurants and shops were closed for the holiday. Police and community members actively engaged in the Holi festivities across the city.
