Hurzeler optimistic about players' international experience for Cup
Fabian Hurzeler, the head coach of Brighton & Hove Albion, believes that his team's South American players will gain valuable experience from their upcoming international matches. Joao Pedro from Brazil, Pervis Estupinan from Ecuador, and Diego Gomez from Paraguay are set to participate in World Cup qualifiers before Brighton's FA Cup quarter-final against Nottingham Forest on March 29. The matches will see Brazil play Argentina, Ecuador take on Chile, and Paraguay face Colombia. These games are scheduled for the early hours of March 26, UK time. Hurzeler is confident that the players’ international experiences will positively affect their performance when they return to club duty. Hurzeler downplayed concerns about fatigue from travel or matches. He stated that the players have faced similar situations before and are experienced enough to handle them. He believes that their passion for representing their countries will serve as motivation for them. Thirteen members of Brighton's squad have been called up for international duty, including players selected for World Cup qualifiers and friendly matches. Meanwhile, captain Lewis Dunk and teammates Joel Veltman and Matt O’Riley are working to recover from injuries during the international break. They aim to be fit for the match against Nottingham Forest.
