Husband charged with wife's murder and rape in London
A year after a woman was found dead in London, her husband has been charged with murder and rape. The woman’s body was discovered in the boot of a car on November 14, 2024. Authorities have confirmed that the cause of death was strangulation. The Crown Prosecution Service and Northamptonshire Police announced the charges on Wednesday. The husband has also been charged with sexual assault and coercive behavior. The investigation is ongoing. Detective Chief Inspector Johnny Campbell, who is leading the case, stated that the police are focused on achieving justice. They are also providing support to the victim's family during this difficult time. The woman’s sister expressed her grief, saying their family has been informed about the circumstances of her sister's death. She believes the husband may have planned the murder after the victim had previously filed complaints about domestic violence. The husband fled the UK just days before his wife's body was found. He traveled from London to Mumbai and then to Delhi. Authorities issued a Look Out Circular in hopes of preventing him from leaving the country again. In India, the husband's parents have been arrested and are currently in judicial custody. The victim's family has filed additional legal complaints against them, including charges of cruelty and dowry death.
