H.W. Smith students to perform 'Seussical Jr.' in Syracuse
Students at H.W. Smith Pre-K-8 School in Syracuse are getting ready to perform "Seussical Jr." This spring musical takes audiences on an adventure to the Jungle of Nool and the Circus McGurkus. The story is narrated by the Cat in the Hat. It follows Horton the Elephant as he discovers a tiny world on a speck of dust, home to the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from those who doubt their existence, while also guarding an egg left to him by Mayzie La Bird. Horton faces many challenges, but Gertrude McFuzz is always there to support him. Themes of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are central to the story. Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, May 9, and 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, in the school auditorium. Tickets cost $5 each and can be purchased at the door. This musical is part of a series of performances by schools in Central New York, showcasing the talent and creativity of local students.
