Hyderabad plans ₹1,000 crore irrigation project for farmers

Hyderabad's Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced a ₹1,000 crore project for lining and repairing canals of the Alimineti Madhav Reddy Project. This aims to improve irrigation for local farmers. Currently, about 2.15 lakh acres of the 2.20 lakh acres under the project are cultivated. The Minister assured farmers that water will be supplied until the last acre is harvested. He noted a significant increase in cultivation this year, with an additional one lakh acres planted. Farmers were advised against digging ditches or installing motors in canals to ensure water distribution.
