HYDRAA removes illegal road at Masab Lake, Rangareddy
The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has started removing an illegally built road inside Masab Lake in Rangareddy district. This decision comes after a complaint from legislator Malreddy Ranga Reddy in the Telangana Legislative Assembly. The road, which measures 60 feet wide, intrudes into 300 meters of the lake's area. Officials reported that the road was constructed by real estate developers who dumped large amounts of sand, silt, and boulders into the lake to create the road. Mr. Ranga Reddy claimed that thousands of truckloads of materials were used in this illegal activity, which had not been addressed by previous government officials. Following complaints from local residents, HYDRAA confirmed the road's illegal status and began clearing operations. In a separate incident, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath inspected Gangaram Cheruvu after receiving complaints about ongoing dumping in the area. He noted that irrigation officials had already filed cases against those responsible for the dumping. Commissioner Ranganath also visited Sunnam Cheruvu to review reviving works and emphasized the need for a dedicated HYDRAA police station to investigate lake encroachments thoroughly. He instructed officials to complete ongoing lake restoration efforts before the monsoon season.
