ICC issues arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Hamas leader Deif over Gaza conflict
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Hamas leader Mohammed Deif. They are accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the conflict in Gaza. The ICC claims there are reasonable grounds to believe Netanyahu and Gallant intentionally deprived civilians in Gaza of essential resources like food and medicine. The warrants make them internationally wanted suspects, but their appearance in court is unlikely due to Israel's non-cooperation with the ICC. The Gaza Health Ministry reports over 44,000 deaths since the conflict began on October 7, 2023. Meanwhile, a US diplomat is in Israel to discuss a cease-fire deal with Hezbollah, amid ongoing violence in the region.
