ICC issues arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Hamas leader over Gaza conflict
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Hamas leader Mohammed Deif. They are accused of crimes against humanity and war crimes related to the Gaza conflict. The ICC claims Netanyahu and Gallant intentionally deprived Gaza's civilian population of essential supplies, including food, water, and medical aid, from October 8, 2023, to May 20, 2024. This conduct allegedly hindered humanitarian efforts in the region. Hamas leader Mohammed Deif is accused of serious crimes linked to the October 7 attack on Israel, which resulted in around 1,200 Israeli deaths and numerous hostages. Israel has not confirmed Deif's reported death in a July airstrike.
