ICC issues arrest warrants for Netanyahu and others over alleged war crimes
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former defense minister Yoav Gallant, and Hamas commander Mohammed Deif for alleged war crimes. The charges relate to actions taken from October 8, 2023, to May 20, 2024. The ICC claims there are reasonable grounds to believe Netanyahu and Gallant intentionally deprived Gaza's civilian population of essential resources like food, water, and medical supplies. Netanyahu's office has rejected the warrant, calling the accusations absurd. If arrested, Netanyahu could face extradition from ICC member states, which are obligated to comply with such warrants. His international travel may also be restricted, particularly to countries that support the ICC.
