ICC issues arrest warrants for Netanyahu and others over Gaza conflict
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former defense minister Yoav Gallant, and Hamas leader Mohammed Deif, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the Gaza conflict. The warrants mark a significant escalation in legal actions concerning the war, which has resulted in extensive casualties. The ICC claims Netanyahu and Gallant are responsible for depriving Gaza's civilians of essential resources, including food and medical supplies. While the ICC's member states are obligated to arrest the suspects, Israel and the U.S. are not members of the court. This limits the likelihood of enforcement, as seen in other cases involving leaders with similar warrants.
