ICC issues arrest warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant, and Deif over alleged war crimes
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former defense minister Yoav Gallant, and Hamas official Mohammed Deif. The warrants are for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity during the Israel-Gaza conflict. The ICC claims there are reasonable grounds to believe Netanyahu and Gallant are responsible for starvation as a method of warfare, as well as murder and persecution. Deif is accused of murder, torture, and sexual violence. Israel does not recognize the ICC's jurisdiction and will not arrest the individuals named in the warrants. The ICC's decision follows a request from its prosecutor related to the October 7 Hamas attack and Israel's military response.
