ICE arrests Palestinian activist in New York City

Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist and former Columbia University student, was arrested by ICE in New York City. His lawyer stated that the arrest was based on a State Department order to revoke his green card. Khalil's arrest follows increased scrutiny of Columbia University by the Trump administration, which has threatened to deport foreign students involved in protests against Israel. Khalil has been transferred to an immigration detention facility in New Jersey. Columbia University officials stated that law enforcement must have a warrant to enter campus property.
