ICE arrests student activist linked to protests
Federal immigration authorities arrested Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian graduate student at Columbia University, during a raid at his residence. His attorney stated that ICE agents acted on orders to revoke his student visa and green card. Khalil was involved in last spring's anti-Israel protests and served as a negotiator for student activists. His arrest is seen as part of the Trump administration's efforts to deport international students who supported protests against Israel. Columbia University has faced scrutiny from federal agencies for its handling of antisemitism on campus. The government recently announced a $400 million cut in grants and contracts to the university.
