Iceland volcano erupts for 10th time in three years after 800 years of dormancy
A volcano on Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula has erupted for the 10th time since 2021, after being dormant for 800 years. This latest eruption occurred late Wednesday, creating a fissure about 3 kilometers long and sending lava towards the Blue Lagoon. A passenger on an easyJet flight captured aerial footage of the eruption, which has gone viral with over 5 million views. The video shows vibrant lava flows and has drawn widespread attention online. Authorities report that this eruption is smaller than the one in August and poses no threat to air travel. However, they have warned of gas emissions affecting nearby areas, including the town of Grindavík.
