IDS launches efficient event-based cameras for industrial use

forbes.com

IDS has launched a new industrial camera series using Prophesee's event-based Metavision® technology. This camera, the uEye EVS, utilizes the IMX 636 neuromorphic sensor, which processes only relevant pixel data, improving efficiency and reducing data load. Event-based cameras differ from traditional ones by focusing on dynamic changes in the scene, capturing data at much higher speeds. This results in lower power consumption and faster decision-making, making them suitable for applications like industrial automation and security. Prophesee has also secured a multi-year deal with Qualcomm to supply its IMX636 chips for smartphones. This partnership aims to enhance smartphone imaging by integrating event-based sensing with conventional camera technology.
