Iftar distribution in Dubai encourages non-Muslims to convert

In Dubai, a large-scale effort to distribute Iftar meals during Ramadan is attracting attention. This initiative brings together people from various backgrounds, including non-Muslims, who join in to help those in need. Sheikh Muhammad Aziz, a volunteer from Malawi, leads a team that distributes 33,000 Iftar packets every day at 13 locations across the city. He emphasizes that everyone is welcomed without regard to their religion or nationality. The meals are provided in the spirit of generosity. Sheikh Aziz said that this kindness inspires many non-Muslims to consider converting to Islam, with more than 10 new converts reported each Ramadan. The campaign, named "Happy Happy Ramadan," began in 2015 when Sheikh Aziz and his brother, Imran, started serving the underprivileged and laborers. Their efforts have expanded over the years, with hundreds of volunteers, including many from Europe and the UK, now taking part. Volunteers like Jemma from the UK express how meaningful the experience is, saying it teaches children about empathy and kindness. Many Pakistani volunteers also play a significant role in the effort, ensuring that Iftar packets reach laborers and those fasting. In Barsha, the initiative stands out for including women in the Iftar distribution. Hafidha, a volunteer from France, noted that Barsha uniquely serves women from all backgrounds. The campaign has received special permission from the Dubai government to operate widely, ensuring that thousands of deserving individuals receive meals during the holy month of Ramadan.
