IIM graduate kidnapped for Rs 12 crore ransom
Nikhil Parmar, a graduate from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), was kidnapped by his ex-girlfriend, Priti Sinha, in Navi Mumbai. The kidnapping was part of a scheme to extort Rs 12 crore from Nikhil's father, Rajnikant Parmar. On March 18, police rescued Nikhil after his father had already paid Rs 1.5 crore in ransom. Nikhil, who is 32 years old and runs a financial firm, had been held captive for almost a month. Police arrested three people involved in the kidnapping, including Priti and her business partner, Kapil Rajput. They are currently looking for Priti, who allegedly planned the crime after their relationship ended last year. During the ordeal, the kidnappers threatened Nikhil with false accusations, claiming they had connections in the government that would lead to his arrest. Investigations showed that Priti and Rajput intended to make a quick profit and involved others, Girish Bholey and Madhumita Potdar, in the plot. Nikhil was forced to call his father to demand ransom payments. Rajnikant gave the kidnappers Rs 70 lakh initially and then another Rs 80 lakh, fearing for his son's safety. After paying a total of Rs 1.5 crore, he requested to see Nikhil but was told to pay another Rs 10.5 crore instead. On March 18, police apprehended Bholey when he came to collect more ransom. He led officers to the apartment in Navi Mumbai, where Nikhil was found hidden behind a washing machine, covered by a cloth to evade detection.
