IIT Guwahati startup develops robots for border surveillance
A startup called Da Spatio Rhobotique Laboratory Pvt. Ltd (DSRL) has developed advanced robots for surveillance at international borders. The company is incubated at IIT Guwahati and has received support from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Currently, the Indian Army is testing these robots in field trials. The robots are designed to provide AI-powered surveillance and real-time monitoring in challenging environments. According to DSRL's CEO, Arnab Kumar Barman, the robotic system is an improvement over traditional security measures that rely on drones and manual patrols. This technology can navigate difficult terrains and harsh weather conditions. These robots are equipped with advanced capabilities such as pole traversal and adaptive obstacle navigation. Barman emphasizes that this system can enhance border protection and infrastructure security. The mission of DSRL is to create innovative surveillance solutions that address national security challenges. Keyur Sorathia, from IIT Guwahati’s Technology Incubation Centre, noted that this innovation represents a significant step for India's national security efforts. The AI-driven surveillance system can help counter modern threats, including rogue drones. With ongoing trials, this technology is expected to be deployed in sensitive areas and military stations soon.
