IIT Madras’ AquaMAP receives ₹5 crore donation

An alumnus of IIT Madras has donated ₹5 crore to support the AquaMAP – Centre for Water Management and Policy. This funding will help create a corpus fund for the centre, aiming to enhance its growth and impact. Parasuram Balasubramanian, who graduated from IIT Madras, made the donation. He is the CEO of Theme Work Analytics and has been involved with AquaMAP since its establishment in 2022. His contributions have been significant, including a previous seed grant. AquaMAP also collaborates with the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser. Balasubramanian highlighted the achievements of AquaMAP over the past three years and expressed a desire for the centre to undertake larger projects with national significance. The centre combines the technical knowledge of IIT Madras faculty and the efforts of various non-governmental organisations. AquaMAP includes 26 faculty members from different departments and focuses on water and wastewater management in villages across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
