Illegal immigrant charged with murdering Georgia grandmother

A Honduran man living illegally in the United States has been charged with killing a Georgia grandmother. Authorities say David Hector Rivas-Sagastume, 21, allegedly strangled Camilia Williams, 52, in a random attack. Williams, a mother of five, was found dead in a wooded area. Family members told the media that she had mentioned being followed by a man before her death. Police have not established any direct connection between Rivas-Sagastume and Williams. Rivas-Sagastume is accused of assaulting Williams, putting her in a chokehold and causing her to lose consciousness. He reportedly confessed to applying pressure on her neck, which led to her death. He had entered the U.S. illegally in March 2021 and had been arrested by Border Patrol. He was later released but received a deportation order in July 2023. Following his recent arrest, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a detainer on him. Rivas-Sagastume is currently being held without bond. Williams' murder is reminiscent of another case in Georgia, where an illegal immigrant was convicted of killing a university student.
