Illegal structures in Gurugram's Sector 29 to be removed

Gurugram authorities are taking action against illegal structures in Sector 29. The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) announced that encroachments in the area must be removed within 10 days or face penalties. Sector 29 is a popular food hub, home to many restaurants, bars, and pubs. It attracts many visitors, especially on weekends. Nearby, Leisure Valley Park is one of the largest parks in the city and a key attraction. During a recent inspection, GMDA officials found many violations. They reported issues like construction on green belts, blocked pathways for pedestrians, and covering open spaces. GMDA planner RS Bhath noted that the road around Leisure Valley Park is in poor condition and needs to be cleared of encroachments. The GMDA is urging business owners to act quickly. If they do not remove the illegal structures within the next 10 days, the authority will intervene. During the inspection, officials also discovered over 100 unauthorized huts on government land and illegal parking of private buses in the park’s lot. GMDA spokespersons said these encroachers must vacate the area within two days. Recent visits by the GMDA CEO highlighted the need to maintain public facilities and keep the park accessible for visitors.
